Description
Allahabad officially known as Prayagraj, and also known as Illahabad and Prayag, is a city in the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh. It is the administrative headquarters of Allahabad district—the most populous district in the state and 13th most populous district in India—and the Allahabad division.
The city lies close to Triveni Sangam, "three-river confluence", original name – Prayag, "place of sacrifice or offering" – which lies at the sangam (confluence) of the Ganga, Yamuna and Sarasvati rivers,[1] a propitious place to conduct sacrifices. It plays a central role in Hindu scriptures. Allahabad was originally called Kaushambi (now a separate district) by the Kuru rulers of Hastinapur, who developed it as their capital. Since then, the city has been a political, cultural and administrative centre of the Doab region. In the early 17th century, Allahabad was a provincial capital in the Mughal Empire under the reign of Jahangir.
Akbarnama mentions that the Mughal emperor Akbar founded a great city in Allahabad. `Abd al-Qadir Bada'uni and Nizamuddin Ahmad mention that Akbar laid the foundations of an imperial city there which was called Ilahabas or Ilahabad.[16][17] He was said to be impressed by its strategic location and built a fort there, later renaming it Ilahabas by 1584 which was changed to Allahabad by Shah Jahan.
Itinerary Details
Day 01: Arrive Varanasi
Arrive at Varanasi Airport / Railway Station pickup and transfer to the hotel, check in with traditional Welcome. Fresh up & proceed to city tour of Varanasi – visit New Vishwanath Temple (B.H.U), Sankat Mochan Temple, Tulsi Manas Mandir, Durga Mandir, Tridev temple, Kaudi Mata Temple etc. In evening Ganga Aarti and Boating on River Ganga at Dasaswamedh Ghat & overnight stay at hotel.
Day 02: Varanasi
After breakfast visit to Sarnath is place where Lord Buddha preached first sermon after enlightenment, visit Dhamek Stupa, Chaukhandi Stupa, Jain Temple, Buddha temple, Sarnath Museum, Ashok Pillar, Deer Park. Then move drive to Ramnagar Fort, Palace of King of Varanasi. In evening visit Silk Weaving centre heart of Varanasi product then back to hotel. Fresh up then visit Kal Bhairav Mandir. Return back to hotel & overnight stay at hotel.
Day 03: Varanasi – Gaya – Bodhgaya-Varnasi
Early morning proceed drive to Gaya visit Vishnupaad temple for Ritual Pinda Dann pooja and Mangala Gauri Darshan. Move drive to Bodhgaya visit Mahabodhi Temple, Bodhi Tree, Great Buddha Statue, Chinese Temple, Barabar Cavas, Ajapala Nigrodha Tree & Royal Bhutan Monastery. Move drive back to Varanasi. Overnight stay in hotel at Varanasi.
Day 04: Varanasi - Allahabad - Varanasi
After breakfast proceed drive to Allahabad visit Triveni Sangam the confluences of three River Ganga, Yamuna & invisible Saraswati for a holy dips, Allahabad Fort, Hanuman Temple, Anand Bhawan, Ashoka Pillar, Alopi Devi Temple, Nav Graha temple. Overnight stay at Varanasi.
Day 05: Departure from Varanasi
After breakfast departure transfer from hotel to Varanasi Airport / Railway station for connect Flight / Train to next destination with sweet memories.
